Despite the recent Government announcement that Cinemas will be able to open in May we will not be able to do so.
When we are allowed to reopen, if the 2 metre distancing is still in place, we would only be able to have an audience of 30 and would only make a profit of £28 on a screening with a Socially Distanced 'Full House'. We would need to generate sufficient profit each month to cover the fee of £600 to the company which supplies the content. There are also the running costs of the venue to meet.
As for when we can start programming shows and screenings again that is very difficult to say. Distributors are delaying the release of their films and there are no new Live Screening performances of plays and ballets to stream until theatres around the world reopen. As for In-House productions we are unable to rehearse and it takes weeks to produce a show.
Realistically we are looking towards the end of the year before we can reopen but it would be wonderful if it were to be earlier.
We are missing everyone and are so grateful to the community for their support.
